Welcome to Milne class. We are a Year 1 and 2 class taught by Miss Batterham. The children chose our class name on our transition days last term and really enjoyed the very famous stories of Winnie the Pooh by AA Milne.

In Milne class, we are beginning to develop our understanding across the different curriculum subjects and working on building a foundation of knowledge ready for when the children move up into Key stage 2. Children continue to build their knowledge of reading and writing through our phonics scheme ‘Soundswrite’. We are looking forward to learning about the Tudors, self-portraits, plants and astronomy in our topic learning across the year, just to name a few.

Children are encouraged to think about how to stay fit and healthy across different areas of the curriculum and will have two sessions of PE per week taught by either Miss Thorne or Miss Batterham.

Reminders- our PE days are Monday and Tuesday so please ensure your child is coming into school in their full PE kit on these days. When it is colder weather, children will need shorts and a t-shirt underneath their joggers and hoodie for PE and will need to come to school with a coat as we do venture outside in all seasons.
